The United Arkvale Resistance (U.A.R.) was formed in 1600 AC, after His Grand Holiness, Porin Talmir, the Premier of Airedale ordered his Holy Legion to assist the foreign Arkvale forces in conquering the neighbouring kingdoms of Cyress and Brus, before laying down its own arms in surrender.
The people of Airedale were in open outrage at the cowardice of the Premier and his Holy Council, leading to great civil unrest. This civil unrest was stoked by a man named Killian Rett, who passionately spoke on street corners and public spaces throughout the Holy City of Brune, about the evil of the traitorous Premier, and the citizens' duty to resist.
Within days, groups of unruly citizens began sharing anti-Premier propaganda, and meeting to conspire against the Holy Council. These actions eventually boiled over into protesting and full-scale riots. The riots eventually breached the gates of the Tower of Brune, the Premier's home and the seat of government, and were barely kept from getting inside.
Fearing for his life, Porin Talmir ordered a joint force of his Holy Legion and Arkvale soldiers to quell the chaos by any means necessary. A great number of civilians were harmed or even killed in the resulting conflict.
The U.A.R. then moved underground, favouring less open and destructive forms of resistance. Through clandestine meetings and back-alley whispers, the U.A.R. spread beyond the Holy City, into other cities within Airedale, and even beyond the kingdom's borders.
The Holy Council say Killian Rett was singehandedly responsible for starting the U.A.R., and inciting the Holy City riots. As such, the Premier has placed a substantial bounty on the capture or, if necessary, the death of Killian Rett.
